You know how when you hit a note on your guitar when it's plugged into a tube amp and the gain is set right on the verge of break-up, and there's kind of a "spongy" type compressed transient attack you get from the rectifier tube's drop in voltage and recovery? It's a very smooth and "musical" thing that happens - solid state gear doesn't really do it, and a lot of modeling programs out there don't get it either. What exactly is DSM? DSM™: Dynamic Saturation Modeling - Putting the "Feel" in Feeling Groovy. All these technologies and development efforts have helped millions of users get the best sounds out of their guitars and basses on countless records and productions – including legendary bands like AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Guns'N'Roses, Queen, Level42 and more. The creation of a single model of amp or effect takes the same time that it would take to build a hardware version of it.
The result is a sound indistinguishable from the original when fed with various guitar signals and dynamics.
This is followed by a series of tweaks and fine-tuning to the circuit and the sonic characteristics of the model. After this phase we start a complex audio-engineering comparison with the original amplifier or effect compared to the modeled version. Then, a comparison of the electrical signals between the original and the model ensures that the model's behavior matches the original circuit behavior in the gear. The original amplifier or effect is then accurately measured, and a virtual circuit representation of it is coded in software, with each component's value and the circuit details carefully matched. All the originals are painstakingly researched and collected, paying extreme attention to critical sonic details like finding the best sounding model series or same-era matching speakers.
IK is proud of its "Made In Italy" passionate craftsmanship heritage, and treats each of the models as a unique project - a process that we feel has now been perfected. With unique technologies like DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling), VRM™ (Volumetric Response Modeling) IK models have set the industry standard evidenced by our co-branding recognition from the most influential partners in the industry such as Fender®, Orange®, Soldano® and many more. Since 1997 with the release of the T-RackS analog modeled mastering suite, IK has been one of the pioneers in the digital tone generation and analog gear modeling field - unraveling the secret DNA and true behavior of analog components, and recreating them for the next generation of musicians, engineers and producers. From the understated to the completely over-the-top, the skilled artists of Carvin Guitars can build your ultimate carved top guitar. How we did it Digital mojo: the art of IK's science The Custom Shop can also work with you on special one-off options - check out our Kiesel Guitars Facebook and Kiesel Guitars Instagram to see some amazing examples of the custom finish work we've done. With hundreds of available options, you can order your new guitar exactly the way you want it, regardless of your playing style or genre. With the CMB option, you can order a guitar made from one of these heavier woods that will still come in on the lighter side of the scale than the average instrument, and wind up with a guitar that will be a pleasure to play, especially for extended sessions.Ĭustom Shop carved top guitars are made from the highest quality components and materials by our skilled USA craftsmen. Many guitarists are always searching for the lightest instrument possible, and have even avoided quality tone woods such as mahogany and walnut because of the perceived weight issues. While that may not sound like much, you'll be able to tell the difference after a few hours on stage or in rehearsal. However, chambering the body can reduce the overall weight of an instrument by as much as a half-pound. (PRESS RELEASE): The Kiesel Guitars/Carvin Guitars Custom Shop has added a chambered body option (CMB) to its popular CT624 and CT7 California Carved Top electric guitars.Ĭosmetically, there's no difference in versions with CMB and without, because the chambering is concealed under the top wood.
